Port St Lucie
Port St. Lucie, Florida points of Photographic interests for the
photographer looking for great photography pictures.
Port St Lucie
was voted one of the 15 best places to live in Florida by 'Destination
Seeker'. To find out why Port St Lucie is worth a
visit, you need to explore this page. If you take a photography workshop with me and want to see the sites if you
have the time then I will be your guide.
Unlike Fort Pierce
and Vero Beach, Port St lucie,
Florida has no downtown area and is spead out from the Atlantic Ocean to past I95. If
you want a career in photography in Port St Lucie, you need to buy a car before you buy a camera.
"Port St. Lucie is a city in St. Lucie County, Florida, United States. The population of Port St. Lucie was
88,769 at the 2000 census but grew rapidly during the 2000s. In 2009 the State of Florida estimated the City's
population at 155,251
The city is home to New York Mets spring training, the St. Lucie Mets Florida State League team and the Mets rookie level team in the Gulf Coast League. All three play at Digital Domain Field. The Treasure Coast Galleons, a
semi-pro soccer team also calls Port St. Lucie its home. Florida Atlantic University has its Treasure Coast campus in the city. There is a golf complex, the PGA Village with 54 holes of
golf, a learning center and a historical center
In 2006, CC, yet again, started development of its newest community, Tradition. The community, which sat west of
the Interstate 95 intersection of Gatlin Blvd., was a large cattle ranch, before CC began to develop it. There they
built around 13,000,000 square feet (1,200,000 m2) of commercial area, and room for over 18,000
residences. According to CC's website, Tradition is the largest fully entitled residential development area from
the tip of Interstate 95 to the Canadian Border. It has been advertised as the town you grew up in, modeled after a
1950s-era town. According to its website, Tradition Square, the town center of the community, holds year long
festivities. It was also chosen as the site of HGTV's Green Home 2009, and one of America's best 100
communities."

I mentioned Tradition because this is an exciting part of Port St. Lucie that has grown rapidly in the last
several years.
Hemingway's must see in Port St Lucie, Florida. Also included are two must see's in
Stuart on South Hutchinson Island. Please click thumbnail picture for full

PH Preserve
It consists of a single-lane trail that is about 1.5 miles long. This is nature that hasn't been
modified by man, except for that trail and an observation platform. I went because I was hoping to see a lot of
butterflies together. Apparently, butterflies are loners because I didn't see more than two together. Great place
for background type of shots, sorry I am not a landscape only photographer. If you go bring some water, bug
repellant and a good hat that covers areas that bugs might be interested in.

"The Town of Tradition in Port St. Lucie, Florida is a new master-planned, mixed-use community
located in the heart of one of America’s fastest growing regions – Port St. Lucie, in St. Lucie County – along
Florida’s Treasure Coast." I can attest that their website is correct. They even have their own
radio station, which broadcasts everywhere you walk. However, for the photographer, there are some lakes, plants,
trees and a fountain that someone with design experience has created. The only thing missing is a nice local pub
with some real not manufactured atmosphere. I was hoping to hook up with a 'Stepford Wife' but no luck. Maybe next
time.
Elliott Museum
Elliott Museum is known for its vintage collection of cars and speed boats. They have a devise where a
visitor can bring up a vehicle in front of a glass window and turn the vehicle so the visitor can see each side of
the vehicle. Usually a volunteer expert of history of vehicles is present to answer questions. The museum also
features a Baseball gallery with hundreds of signed baseball cards and a Maritime History
section. Favorite 2014 Treasure Coast Reader's Choice Award Martin County Tourist
Attraction.
Refuge Museum
Yes I know the museum is in Stuart not Port St Lucie. However the museum is near the southern tip of
South Hutchinson Island and you need to pass St Lucie county to get to this place from Fort Pierce. When I arrived
near sunset on a Saturday they were having a wedding reception(Incidentally it did give me an interesting picture)
The museum has very little parking space so if you do visit, try a weekday. On one side you have the atlantic ocean
and on the other side of the street you have the Stuart Inlet. Not a place to visit during a hurricane.
Unfortunetly there wasn't a bar inside, after my epic journey of trying find the place, I could have used a cool
beer.
Hemingway's choice(s) for good times and good food after sunset. Good times as defined
as interesting bars and restaurants. Also included are two must see's in Jensen
Beach on South Hutchinson Island.

This is my favorite Duffy's location and my all-time favoured sports bar. Duffy's is pretty large
but if you are a regular customer, the managers and most of the staff get to know you. The food is pretty good, and
my favorite is the rodeo burger. Whatever is about sports you will find on one of their TVs. Duffy's is connected
to SuperPlay which hosts a bowling alley and several other things that young people find amusing.

Lively nightime spot, nice looking bar and entertainment on the weekends. Looks like 'ladies night'
is on a Wednesday.

Good selection of wines and craft beer. Nice friendly atmosphere. Self-service on getting your
wine(s). All the bottles are upside down and hooked up to a dispensing machine. "Vine & Barley is a smoke-free
environment with ‘jazzy-blues’ background music, soft lighting, and a flat-screen TV to ‘catch the game’." Says it
all. Favorite 2014 Treasure Coast Reader's Choice Award St. Lucie Vineyard and Vinery. Best
night is Tuesday when they have bingo.

Used to be a Duffy's Sports bar franchise. Visited on a sunday afternoon and observed a good crowd
at the bar. Looked like most of them were regulars. Place has been opened for a couple of months. Food is
served and they play live music on the weekends.
Bonefish Mac's
Pond and little waterfalls in front of this restaurant/ sports bar. They also feature one of the largest
menus I have ever seen. Two of my friends eat here on a regular basis, and they like the food.
Shuckers
Yes again, I know but same excuse as above. The place is on south hutchinson island, and you need to pass by St
Lucie's county to get here from Fort Pierce. I visited this place before the 2004 hurricanes and I wasn't
impressed. After the hurricane, extensive renovations took place and the new place looks a lot nicer. When I
arrived around six pm, the place was packed, still I didn't have a wait for service, and the food arrived
promptly. I had pork chops, and they were pretty good. In addition to the inside bar, they also had an outside bar
that was close to the ocean and twice as big as the inside bar.
Chillin the Most
Chillin the Most has a good size bar and entertainment on the weekends. On Sundays they play music for
older photographers. Upstairs they have a Tiki Bar with balcony and a good view of the parking lot. I bet this is a
lively place on Fridays and Saturdays. "On our menu you will find an eclectic mix of delicious,
well thought out items and on our 24 taps you will find rotating craft beers." Sounds pretty good but
remember what Reagan said: "Trust but verify"
